Avis Mexico Rental Terms for travel between 08-Nov-2016 and 09-Nov-2019

Additional Driver Fee: 143.00 MEP per day per additional driver. Maximum 715.00 MEP per person per week or month.
Renter's spouse or life partner, Disabled renters who need assistance & Co-Workers (corporate rentals) are free of charge. Any additional driver has to present a valid driver's license and must be present at the time of rental to sign the additional driver's form. A maximum of 2 additional drivers are allowed. An underage fee, subject to tax and surcharges, will apply if the additional driver is 21-24 years old.

Minimum age to rent is 21 years old: Renters younger than 25 years old are subject to a young driver fee.
Young Driver (Underage) Fee is 130.00 MEP per day for all car groups, subject to tax and surcharges.
No maximum charge. This policy is applicable to corporate rentals with a corporate rate.

MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, Optima, Japan Credit Bureau, and Avis or Avis-honored vouchers in U.S. currency only.  
Vouchers: Avis honored vouchers are accepted for payment and must be accompanied by a charge card.
Credit card must be issued under renter’s name.
Charge card hold: The charge card hold is the estimated cost of rental plus 30%, plus an additional fee will apply ONLY on specific car groups G, H, J, XF, XD, XI, XL, XJ, XL and XN.
• With PDW                          500.00 USD (Groups XJ and XN 750.00 USD)
• Without LDW/PDW             1,000.00 USD (Groups XJ and XN 1,500.00 USD)
Debit Cards: Are only accepted, as a form of payment, at the end of the rental in substitution of the credit card presented at the beginning of the rental.

Any of the above stations provide pick-up and drop off service to any Hotel within Cancun’s hotelier zone.

Cozumel Pier (GN8) Temporarily closed
Cruise ship passengers can be assisted at CZ8, Park Royal Lobby.
Querétaro (QRO) offers pick up at any place in Querétaro City.
Reservations must include hotel's name or meeting point. All pick-ups are On Request. A fee for pick up might apply and it will be informed at the confirmation.
FBO – Service for the following locations (BJX, CJS, CUL, CUN, GDL, MTY, QRO, PVR, SLP, SJD, TRC) to the private terminal is available at the main terminal. Note the tail Lumber and name of terminal on reservation. The customer will be picked up and taken to the location for checkout. 
Valid driver's license from country of residence of driver and each additional driver is required.  International driving license is required only for countries with non-Roman alphabet as a translation.  Non-Mexican renters must also present their passport.  We reserve the right to check the driver’s license against Avis standards and refuse to rent if those standards are not met.
Not included in rates, unless it is specified. Car must be returned with full tank of gas or local refueling charge will apply.
Refueling Charge: Returning the vehicle with less than the amount of fuel that was given with, results in a refueling charge to a rate per gallon higher than the local retail gasoline price, and it is subject to taxes and fees. All rental locations offer prepaid gas options at market value, this option can only be selected when taking the car. There are no refunds for unused gas.
To be guaranteed, reservations for all groups must include the customer’s charge card number, expiration date, telephone number, and billing address. A no-show fee of 75.00 USD will apply if the reservation is cancelled with less than 6 hours notice or if the customer does not rent the vehicle within 12 hours of the reserved time.
One-way fees are taxable.
Same City: Cars can be returned to locations within the same city without a one-way fee.
Between Cities: Cars can only be returned to an Avis location, drop off charges apply, check your total estimate for details on the pricing-
1. One way rentals not available to or from Cozumel.
2. One-way rentals between La Paz (LAP, US7) and Mazatlan (MZT, ZX5) are NOT allowed.
1.  Cars cannot be driven into or rented one-way to any other country in Central America or South America.
2.  ONLY Cars rented in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Hermosillo, Mexicali and Tijuana can be driven into the U.S., but must be returned to Mexico.
3.  Cars rented in Mexico are NOT allowed to terminate in the U.S.
Vehicles are driven on the right side of the road.
Avis Mexico vehicles cannot transit on unpaved roads, if driven, customer is responsible for any cost for damage, fines, towing or any other derived.
Our fleet is NON SMOKING; a cleaning fee of 250.00 USD will be applied in case customer decides to smoke in our vehicle.
MEXICO CITY – MEGALOPOLIS ANTI POLLUTION PROGRAM (Mexico City and 19 surrounding municipalities)
This is a mandatory program implemented by Mexican government.
By law, all cars including rentals, should not be driven into Mexico City & the Megalopolis Zone for at least 1 day a week plus 1 Saturday of the month, based on the last digit of the license plate. At counter level this information will be passed to each of our customers so they are aware of it.
This program affects cars rented outside Mexico City but driven within City and/or the Megalopolis but also all vehicles rented in Mexico City. These new specifications apply and are valid from April 5th and until June 30th 2016 (subject to extension, prior notice from the Mexican authorities). Cars driven on the forbidden days are subject to fines and will be impounded.
Avis Mexico has no responsibility or doing in the establishment of this Government Program. No refunds resulting from loss of use of the rented vehicle will be applied to any customer, as the application of this law is totally outside of our control. 
All drivers must follow the anti-pollution program as indicated by the authorities, all fines, toes, and vehicle storage fees resulting from violating these indications will be the customer’s responsibility. Additionally, in case of fines, an administrative fee of 1,000.00 MEP, plus taxes and the cost of the rental for the days the car stays impounded (not to exceed 3 working days).
 – All costs for special equipment are subject to taxes and surcharges.

   Cost = 179.00 MEP/day; 899.00 MEP/weekly, No Maximum; One-way fees = 195.00 Lost/damage fees up to 6,000.00 MEP.
All locations are subject to a Vehicle License Fee (VLF) not to exceed 84.00 MEP per day, subject to taxes.

Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles. The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental. The customer will be totally responsible for handling coverage with the card issuer for any damage or theft of the Avis vehicle. Any waiver must be discussed with the location upon arrival.  
All rental charges & additional costs (i.e. special equipment, fees, insurance) are subject to tax & surcharges.

All our cars are rented with basic liability insurance in our rental rates, customers are covered up to 1 million pesos which is above the minimum required by Mexican law.  
NOTE: Theft of, or damage to parts and accessories are not covered for this insurance. This coverage is only for third parties. All expenses related to the Avis vehicle are not included.
LDW is available at all locations. Purchase of LDW relieves customer’s financial responsibility for damage to or loss of the Avis vehicle as a result of an accident or theft, in addition to rims and tires for all classes. 
This is an optional product. Rates vary between 30.99 USD to 38.99 USD, depending on vehicle rented.
This coverage does not include loss of license plates, tow service, fines and loss of keys. Client must follow all driving conditions stated in our terms of service clauses; any infraction to the stated conditions voids this coverage. It is subject to taxes and fees. PDW-Partial Damage Waiver is available at counter only.
If LDW/PDW is declined, the renter is fully responsible for:
1. Full value of car and any accessories if stolen.
2. Full value of repairs plus rental charge during repairs.
3. An additional card hold will apply. (See charge card hold information above for more details.) 
The customer must also sign an “Acknowledgment of Responsibility.”  
ALI is available at all locations. Purchase of ALI property damage and public liability to 15,000,000 MEP, while driving within Mexico as long as the terms and conditions of the rental agreement are met.   Cost is 14.99 USD per day for all car groups.
PAI is 4.00 USD per day and provides accidental death and medical expense benefits to the renter and all passengers in the vehicle up to 500,000 MXN; it is subject to taxes and fees.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable. 

If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
